United Against Breast Cancer: BV Trust Makers Gather for Breast Cancer Awareness Session
Oct. 23 2024
On October 19th, 2024, the Bureau Veritas South Africa team hosted a special Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the Morningside Office in Johannesburg.
The event was opened by Vhahangwele Mvalese, QHSE Manager for South Africa, with her opening remarks emphasized the importance of health awareness in the workplace and the role of individuals in their own health journey.
The guest speaker, Grace Maema, Regional E-Health Promoter Wendywood Clinic, gave an interactive and light-hearted session about breast cancer. She touched on how recognizing the symptoms early detection can be life changing; involving loved ones in your breast cancer journey and seeking medical attention (instead of self-diagnosing) and regular check-ups.
Positivity and Research: Breast Cancer is Not a Death Sentence
The day ended on a positive note, reinforcing that breast cancer is not a death sentence. With early detection, advanced treatments, and the right support, many patients live healthy, fulfilling lives after diagnosis. Research is continuously making strides in improving treatment options and outcomes.
Bureau Veritas’ Commitment to Women’s Health
Beatrice Scharneck, Director for Human Resources in Southern Africa closed the event and emphasized the importance for broader general health of women, not just focusing on breast cancer but also promoting overall well-being.
Bureau Veritas remains committed to fostering a workplace that cares for the health and safety of all employees, empowering them to take control of their health.
